The Hainan Story Coffee House pays tribute to the Hainanese community that arrived in Singapore after the British colonial period. With a love for Hainanese food that is shared by many Singaporeans, The Hainan Story was created to celebrate this unique cuisine. Unlike other Chinese communities that arrived earlier, the Hainanese struggled to establish their businesses in a market dominated by other dialect groups. Instead, they took on roles as servants and chefs for the British colonial masters.However, the resourceful Hainanese quickly adapted to the British and other dialects' food, and with their ingenuity, they created their own uniquely Singaporean Hainanese cuisine. At The Hainan Story, it is our dream to introduce this cuisine, which was discovered and developed by our forefathers, with a modern twist. Our goal is to showcase the flavors and techniques that have been passed down through generations and to bring them to a wider audience.We are proud to share the history and culture of the Hainanese community through our food and coffee offerings.
